About The Artwork

This painting captures a quiet Sunday morning at a coastal fishing village estuary. After toiling at sea for days, the fishermen enjoy a well-deserved day of rest, using the time for minor boat maintenance and quiet routines. I happened to spot this serene scene while traveling to Terengganu, and I knew immediately it was a moment meant for the canvas. I feel incredibly lucky to have caught it just right.

Meet The Artist

Rusdi Mohamad

Engineer turned artist. I was a civil servant for over 30 years before taking an early retirement at the age of 57 years old to pursue my other love, painting.

Painting is always my passion, even at the young age due to the environment where I was brought up in. I was born and raised in the coastal area of the East Coast. There is plenty palm trees and many other greens. Estuaries where fishermen came back to with their loads of daily catch, riverside lined with fishing village, paddy fields in abundance further upstream and beautiful beaches with gorgeous and mesmerizing sunrises: These are my subject matters.

I started drawing and painting full time after I retired. I made real progress by learning from books and art instructional videos. There are many artists influenced my works but the main three are Sorolla, John Singer Sargent, and Richard Schmid.
