About The Artwork

Meet The Artist
Dean Harun
Born on December 6, 1969, in Kuala Nerang, Kedah, Mr. Dean Harun embarked on his artistic journey as a painter at the tender age of 17. His first forays were into the realms of watercolor and oil painting. Over the years, he has been an active participant in various exhibitions alongside fellow artists in Malaysia.
For Mr. Harun, understanding and mastering a diverse array of artistic media, techniques, and styles is a prerequisite for any artist before diving into the field. A true artist evolves into a great creator when equipped with the prowess to harness the multitude of mediums, techniques, and artistic styles. Nevertheless, it is often wiser for an artist to concentrate on a single medium, technique, and style to craft more impactful and resonant works of art.

Dean Harun has crafted a significant body of work based on graphite and colored pencil on watercolor paper, belonging to the “HAND” and “TRADITIONAL” series, following the path of realism. Additionally, he has completed numerous portrait commissions using these mediums. His expertise also extends to the use of soft pastels.
In recent years, his artistic focus has shifted towards acrylic and oil painting. His creative expressions have evolved, emphasizing techniques such as impasto, impressionism, and abstract art. In the past, with pencil graphite and realism, his art predominantly featured black and white compositions, with primary subjects being portraits, hands, and traditional objects. Now, with impasto and impressionist techniques, his work is directed more towards landscapes, with a touch of figurative art.
“Blend a multitude of colors onto a single canvas to evoke a profound and beautiful impact on the world’s essence.”
