About The Artwork

The Sultan Abdul Samad Building, with its impressive copper dome, stands proudly on Merdeka Square and is among Kuala Lumpur’s most iconic landmarks. It was once the most recognizable symbol of Malaysia until the construction of the Petronas Towers, and even today, it remains one of the most frequently photographed buildings in the country.

This historic structure was officially inaugurated on April 3, 1897, by Frank Swettenham, the resident-general of the Federated Malay States. It holds a significant place in Malaysia’s architectural and historical heritage, attracting both locals and tourists with its grandeur and rich history.
