About The Artwork
If you looking at the top of a mountain that is bright reddish because of the rising sun, you will find that the surrounding area below is still dark because it has not been exposed to the sun. And if the surrounding area is already flooded with sunlight, then the mountain has started to fade because of the bright morning sun. There is no bright orange red at the top, only a faded dark blue tone. These are two different times. What happens if you combine these two? So this is what I try my own personal interpretation into this painting. To see a majestic & mystic beauty of Mount Kinabalu Sabah that rarely seen in other medium.

Meet The Artist
Asmadr bin Nanang Basunik, originally from Batu Pahat, Johor, holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Art from Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), Shah Alam. After graduating just before the pandemic, he spent several years working outside the art industry while searching for a deeper sense of purpose and direction.
Towards the end of 2023, Asmadr made the bold decision to pursue his passion as a full-time artist. His early works were rooted in realism, but after navigating a period of personal challenges and life’s difficult realities, his artistic voice gradually evolved. Today, he embraces a style that blends elements of realism with impressionism.
This fusion of impressionistic expression and realistic detail resonates deeply with his artistic spirit. Through expressive brushstrokes and fluid, intuitive movements across the canvas, Asmadr brings a sense of energy, emotion, and vitality to his paintings.
Since late 2024, Asmadr has actively participated in numerous group exhibitions, primarily across Selangor. His exhibitions include two showcases at The LINC KL under the Angkatan Pelukis Semalaysia (APS), the Jom HangArt Exhibition at The Campus Ampang, the Selangor Visual Art Festival at NU Empire, Subang Jaya, and more recently, the Discovering a Beautiful Mind Art Exhibition at The Curve, Damansara, among several others.
