About The Artwork

“Malaysia in My Heart” features the iconic, historic Sultan Abdul Samad Building at its centre, alongside other Malaysian landmarks such as the KLCC, Maybank Tower, KL Tower, and The Exchange TRX. These four landmarks are adorned with ‘Songket’ motifs which is a source of national pride and a cherished part of the country’s heritage. Also depicted are the Penang Bridge that is known for the longest in Asia and the third-longest in the world and also the Saloma Link, which is similarly embellished with distinctive ‘Songket’ patterns.

Standing majestically in the centre of the canvas is the ‘Wau Bulan’ (Moon Kite), another iconic symbol of the nation’s heritage. These elements are harmoniously combined with symbols representing Malaysia’s major festivals: the ‘ketupat palas’ for Hari Raya, lanterns for Chinese New Year, and ‘diyas’ for Deepavali. All these elements combine to showcase the harmony of Malaysia, a nation comprising diverse races that respect one another and
understand religious matters.
