About The Artwork

Muhibbah, a Malay word meaning goodwill, harmony, and mutual respect, is expressed through an intricate interplay of cultural motifs and native florals, where the visual traditions of Malaysia’s diverse communities intertwine to form a shared tapestry of unity and belonging. Growing up in Subang Jaya, a multicultural community where friendships transcended race and background, I experienced firsthand the spirit of muhibbah in everyday life. These experiences taught me openness, understanding, and the value of embracing different perspectives, shaping my ability to connect with people from all walks of life. Drawing inspiration from Malay, Chinese, Indian, Sabah, and Sarawak visual languages, this work is a personal reflection on the connections that unite us, exploring how diverse patterns, identities, and narratives can coexist, connect, and merge into a harmonious whole.

Meet The Artist

Safra Zahirah Rosli

Safra Zahirah Rosli (born 1992, Selangor) is a part-time artist based in Shah Alam, Selangor. Her artistic practice centres on Batik Zentangle art—an intricate fusion of traditional batik aesthetics and the meditative, repetitive patterns of Zentangle. Through detailed floral motifs and symbolic forms, her works explore mindfulness, balance, and emotional expression, celebrating the harmony between tradition and contemporary interpretation while inviting viewers into a contemplative and calming visual experience.

Alongside her artistic practice, Safra maintains a professional career within a financial institution and has participated in group exhibitions since 2017, beginning with Rantai Art. She was featured as a contributing artist in Secret Colours of Malaysia (2016), published by Editions Didier Millet (EDM). She continues to experiment across various mediums, including acrylics, oils, Modern Abstract, and Calligraphy, while working towards broader exhibition opportunities and a future solo exhibition.
